FC Köln boss Horst Heldt would like to hold on to Schalke 04 loanee Mark Uth beyond the end of his loan spell.

"We want to keep Mark with us beyond the season. He has blossomed here, is well respected and is also an excellent footballer," Heldt told Bild.

At this point, however, Heldt says there are "no talks" about the 28-year-old's future.

In light of the corona crisis, Köln can't afford to pay the €10 million release clause in Uth's deal, according to Bild.

If Köln can't drive down the price, they might be able to extend his loan deal for a further season.

Uth has scored four goals and made four assists in seven games since he joined Köln on loan in January.
