FSV Mainz managing director may have found a buyer for at least one of the five players he's openly discussed selling on this autumn's transfer market. Transfermarkt.de reports that VfL Wolfsburg are negotiations with the Nullfünfer for the purchase of 22-year-old fullback Ridle Baku.

VfL head coach Oliver Glasner has made no secret of the fact that his club plans to make several more moves in the final weeks of the transfer window. In the case of Baku, the acquisition would fill an exigent need. Long-term injuries to William Furtado and Kevin Mbabu leave Germany's green company team without a natural right back.

The Germany U21 player fought his way into the Mainz senior side two years ago. By last season he was a regular in the starting XI. Baku is widely regarded as one of the primary reasons the Pfälzer were able to avoid relegation despite a very poor 2019/20 campaign.

He stared 28 fixtures, tallying once and garnering three assists. Transfermarkt lists his ostensible value at €7 million.
