FC Köln coach Markus Gisdol found praise for Ondrej Duda and Sebastian Andersson despite his team's 2-3 loss to Hoffenheim in their Bundesliga opener on Saturday.

Duda and Andersson were thrown straight into the line-up after joining Köln from Hertha BSC and Union Berlin respectively earlier this week.

Andersson got on the scoresheet, but it wasn't enough for Köln, who were sunk by a hat-trick from Andrej Kramaric.

Despite the defeat, Gisdol was impressed with his new arrivals.

"We have seen that they can and will help us. They both did really well on their debuts," Gisdol said after the game and added:

"It was amazing to see how they influenced the game after just a few training sessions with the team."
