Report: No Philipp Hofmann transfer to Union Berlin as KSC boss slams door shut

Karlsruhe's top scorer will remain in Baden-Württemberg this season. That's if KSC sporting director Oliver Kreuzer is to be believed.
"The subject is finished." With those words, spoken to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, Karlsruhe's general manager explicitly closed the matter of a potential transfer involving Philipp Hofmann.

Oliver Kreuzer reported talking to his counterpart at 1. FC Union Berlin, Oliver Runhert, over the weekend. The two Olivers were evidently nowhere near one another when it came to pricing for the scorer of 17 goals in Germanys second division last season.

Hofmann sat out the KSC's weekend encounter against Hannover 96, perhaps in an effort to force the transfer. Kreuzer reported being "surprised" and "a little disappointed" in Hofmann's behavior.

A potential rift between management and the player apparently not of much concern to him, Kreuzer emphasized, "[a deal] is slashed".
