Dortmund sunk by Caligiuri and Augsburg
FC Augsburg upset the odds to beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in front of around 6,000 home fans at WWK Arena.
Borussia Dortmund slipped to a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Augsburg away at WWK Arena in their second Bundesliga game of the season on Saturday.
The guests were very dominant in possession, but struggled to threaten the Augsburg goal for large periods of the game.
Augsburg stood firm in defense and took advantage of their first opportunity to make it 1-0 in the 40th minute as Felix Uduokhai headed in a cross from Daniel Caligiuri.
Shortly after the break, Caligiuri got on the scoresheet himself, powering the ball beyond Bürki to make it 2-0 after Michael Gregoritsch found him with a lofted pass.
Having won two out of two with a goal difference of 5-1, Augsburg are now top of the Bundesliga before this weekend's remaining fixtures.
Elsewhere, Stuttgart beat Mainz 4-1, Arminia Bielefeld grabbed their first win of the season as they beat FC Köln 1-0. Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig drew 1-1 while Gladbach and Union Berlin shared the spoils by the same score at Borussia-Park.
