Report: Bayern lose battle for Sergino Dest

German footballing magazine Kicker cites Dutch newspaper "De Telegraph" to report that FC Barcelona have come out on top in the battle to acquire 19-year-old right back Sergino Dest. In the end, an improved offer from the German giants could not match a better overture from the La Liga side.

It appears as if Sergino Dest will suit up for the Azulgrana after all this season. As more details of the reported breakthrough emerge, it seems the pendulum has swung the Spaniards' way.

As reported in Germany's pre-eminent footballing magazine, the young American bid his Ajax teammates farewell following the Dutch side's league win on Saturday. Kicker cites a reliable Dutch news source that places Dest on his way to Barcelona to conclude the deal.

Barça were reportedly able to free up enough cash after the transfer of Nelson Semedo to offer Ajax a straight transfer fee in excess of €20 million. Bayern's very public search of a new right fullback to back up Benjamin Pavard now continues with no new specific names yet emerging.
