Ralf Rangnick says he 'can't imagine' taking over the vacant head coaching role at Schalke 04.

Having already had two spells at Schalke coach in the past, Rangnick has been touted as a possible replacement for the recently dismissed David Wagner.

The former RB Leipzig chief fueled the speculation in a recent interview, admitting he 'would be lying' if he said he wasn't interested in Schalke.

But speaking to WAZ on Monday, the 62-year-old has seemingly put the rumors to bed once and for all.

"I can't imagine coming to Schalke 04 for the third time at the moment, and certainly not as a coach, who is supposed to end a poor run of form at a short notice," said Rangnick.

Rangnick has been without a job since resigning from his position as head of sport and development at Red Bull in July 2020.
