Ozan Kabak has been handed a five-game game ban following Schalke 04's 1-3 loss to Werder Bremen on Saturday.

The Schalke centre-back was sent off when he was shown his second yellow card towards the end of the game.

Additionally, he has been punished for unsportsmanlike behavior after he spat in the direction of Werder Bremen's Ludwig Augustinsson in the 26th minute – an incident that referee Markus Schmidt since declared he didn't see. Kabak has also been handed a fine of €15,000.

The suspension means that the 20-year-old will be unavailable for Schalke's games against RB Leipzig, Union Berlin, Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart and Mainz 05.
