Sebastian Rudy has officially re-joined Hoffenheim on loan from Schalke 04, the two Bundesliga clubs have announced.

The parties have reached an agreement that will see the 30-year-old return to the club, where he spent last season on loan.

"Sebastian Rudy came to us asking to return to Hoffenheim like last season. We’ve worked with Hoffenheim to find a solution that works for both sides. It will help Schalke 04 financially," said Schalke head of sport Jochen Schneider.

"We're very happy about Sebastian's return. His experience, technical ability and tactical understanding will make us better," commented Hoffenheim boss Alexander Rosen.

After starting Schalke's two first games of the season, Rudy was on the bench for Saturday's 4-0 defeat to RB Leipzig.
