The Paraguayan centre-back has joined the German capital club on a long-term deal as a replacement for Karim Rekik, who has moved to Sevilla.
"I’m really looking forward this opportunity to play in the Bundesliga and in Berlin. I want to improve even further and take my chance," said the centre-back.
Alderete, 23, made 54 appearances for Basel after his move to Switzerland from Argentine side Huracán last year.
