After filling in at a variety of positions due to injuries throughout the 2019/20 campaign, Leonardo Bittencourt says he has a clearer defined role at Werder Bremen this season.

"Last year, I played all positions except centre-back and goalkeeper because of injuries. For this season, I have clearly agreed with the coach that I will play as a number eight, number 10 or in one of the three positions up front," Bittencourt told Kicker and added:

"For me it's nice that I don't have to take as much defensive responsibility. I was happy to play full-back or as a number six in the interest of the team. But it wasn't easy, because I had to learn now things."

The 26-year-old joined Werder from Hoffenheim last summer.
