Bayern München coach Hansi Flick has defended Germany coach Joachim Löw after criticism from German football pundits and journalists.

Germany's recent performances and results have seen the likes of Lothar Matthäus and Bastian Schweinsteiger hit out at Löw over his tactics and squad selection.

Flick, who worked as Löw's assistant from 2006 to 2014, has now come out to support the 60-year-old, stating that some of the things that have recently been said 'aren't good for German football.

"It's the duty of the coach to try things out. The situation for Joachim Löw isn't easy, because as a national team coach, you don't have time to practice things in training," Flick told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday.

"I know how important training sessions are to get your ideas across to the players. Other than that, I think what is happening right now is very exaggerated.

"'Jogi' has done an outstanding job. Many people, who haven't had a ball at their feet for 25 years, have expressed criticism. As a pundit, you sometimes say things that aren't good for German football," said the Bayern coach.
