New Hertha BSC signing Matteo Guendouzi has tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from the France U21 national team, the club said on Thursday.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who recently joined Hertha on loan from Arsenal, is now set to self-isolate for 10 days.

Hertha general manager Michael Preetz recently spoke about Guendouzi, telling Kicker:

"We want to give him time to adapt. But we don't have an insane amount of time, so we have to speed up the process.

"With Matteo, there's sometimes a thin line between courage and overconfidence. He's a a very active player with a great temper that can swing in both directions."

"He's very safe with the ball and wants it permanently. He can be a hinge between the defense and attack," said Preetz.
