"The last home game of the first half of the season will be my last game for Eintracht Frankfurt," current club captain David Abraham confided to German footballing magazine Kicker in an interview scheduled to hit the newsstands in the Thursday edition, "After that I will be returning to Argentina after almost 15 years in Europe. I look forward to seeing my family, especially my son."

Abraham's imminent retirement had essentially been common knowledge for ten days or so. There nevertheless did exist some hope within the club that the veteran could stick it out until the end of his contract in the summer of 2021. In the interview, Abraham conveyed that he felt he had already given the club as much extra time as could reasonably been expected of him.

"Because of the corona pandemic, Iv'e put in an additional six months to arrange for the succession," Abraham, who had actually wanted to retire last summer, told the magazine.

Regarding his future, Abraham has indicated that he may be interested in logging some pitch time for his hometown Hurucan Chabas. The decision should still count as his final one in over 15 years of professional football.

There is not yet word on who will inherit the skipper's armband at the SGE.
