Bayern München have decided to release Jerome Boateng on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to Bild.

Boateng's agent, Damir Smoljan, recently said he was 'open to contract talks' with the Bavarians.

However, much to the disappointment of Boateng, the German champions have reportedly now decided that the 32-year-old centre-back will not be offered a new deal.

Bild mentions Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham as potential destinations for Boateng, who might also consider a move to the United States.

The German defender has played for Bayern since 2011, making a total of 333 appearances with nine goals and 24 assists to his name.
