VfB Stuttgart trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo confirmed that Arsenal loanee Konstantinos Mavropanos is now fully fit and ready six weeks after surgery to repair his torn meniscus.

One of Stuttgart's highest profile summer acquisitions has made an unexpectedly rapid recovery from major surgery in mid-October. A confident-looking VfB head coach conveyed this news at a Thursday presser.

Trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo reported that the 22-year-old Greek international returned to team training on Wednesday and looked good enough to merit a possible selection on Saturday. "He is fully integrated and will also be an option for the squad," the trainer told the assembled media.

Matarazzo surprised many by reverting to a back-four for the first time this season late in the previous round's 3-3 shootout with Hoffenheim. The 42-year-old-coach gave some insights to his strategy against league-leaders Bayern this weekend.

"It's possible that Mavropanos will be on the pitch and it's possible that we'll play a back-four," he said, "Both situations are conceivable."
