Report: Schalke's Rabbi Matondo on verge of loan to Stoke City

Sportbild and SkyGermany report that relegation-threatened FC Schalke 04 near completion of a deal to send Welsh attacker Rabbi Matondo to Stoke City on a six-month loan.
High-value winger Rabbi Matondo has once again found himself underutilized in Gerlsenkirchen this season. As the beleaguered club fights to clear payroll space in the nascent transfer window, two reputable journalists report that the club has perhaps found a temporary destination for the 20-year-old's wages.

Kilian Gaffer of Germany's "SportBild" publicized information that Matondo, absent from Schalke's bench squad in the Saturday fixture against Hertha is en route to England to complete a medical. SkySports reporter Dirk Schlarmann confirmed this information via twitter.

Speculation about a loan or transfer to an EPL or EFL club has been rampant in recent days. Transfermarkt.de reports that both correspondents confirm Stoke as the destination and that a deal to send him to the Potters is in its final stages.
