Nadiem Amiri tested positive for coronavirus

Bayer Leverkusen will have to manage without Nadiem Amiri for the time being after the midfielder returned a positive coronavirus test.

Bayer Leverkusen's Nadiem Amiri has been infected with coronavirus, the Bundesliga side announced on Thursday.

The 24-year-old midfielder immediately went into self-quarantine after testing positive on Tuesday.

Therefore, Leverkusen will be without Amiri when they lock horns with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Amiri has made 25 appearances this season with five goals and nine assists to his name.
