Matthew Hoppe wants to stay at Schalke even if they are relegated

Matthew Hoppe has pledged loyalty to Schalke 04, telling Transfermarkt that he won't be leaving if the crisis-hit club are relegated from the Bundesliga.
Teenage striker Matthew Hoppe has no intentions of leaving Schalke 04 at the end of the season.

Things are looking bleak for Schalke, who are rock bottom of the Bundesliga, nine points behind Arminia Bielefeld in the relegation play-off spot.

But even if 'The Royal Blues' are relegated from the top flight, Hoppe plans to stay at Veltins-Arena, having just signed a new deal until 2023.

"I will do everything to keep Schalke in the Bundesliga," Hoppe told Transfermarkt.

"They gave me an opportunity, and i respect that," he added.

Hoppe has scored five goals in 10 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke so far.
