Reports that Augsburg are considering sacking Heiko Herrlich as coach are 'absolute nonsense,' according to managing director Stefan Reuter.

Augsburg managing director Stefan Reuter has played down speculation over Heiko Herrlich's future as the club's coach.

Reports have claimed Augsburg are considering parting company with Herrlich after losing five of their last six Bundesliga games, but Reuter insists he has full faith in the 49-year-old.

"It's absolute nonsense that we are thinking about parting ways. Heiko is a great coach with clear ideas," Reuter told Sport Bild and added:

"We are convinced of his qualities as a coach and person throughout the club."

Herrlich was appointed Augsburg coach in March 2020. His contract expires in 2022.
