Gladbach have today announced that the 44-year-old will be leaving his position as head coach at the end of the season.
Rose, who has a €5 million release clause in his contract, will become the new head coach of Borussia Dortmund, taking over from Edin Terzic, who took the reins until the end of the season following the dismissal of Lucien Favre.
"We have held a lot of talks in recent weeks to discuss Marco's future. Unfortunately, he has opted to trigger a clause in his contract and leave this summer. Until then, we will work hard to achieve our goals in the league, cup and Europe together," said Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl.
It's not clear yet who will succeed Rose at Gladbach. Jesse Marsch (RB Salzburg), Florian Kohfeldt (Werder Bremen) and Adi Hütter (Eintracht Frankfurt) have been touted as possible candidates.
Rose joined Gladbach from RB Salzburg in 2019 and led the club to a fourth-place finish in his first season at Borussia-Park.
