Maximilian Arnold absent from training, weekend availability questionable

Already without central defender John Anthony Brooks, VfL Wolfsburg may have to contest this weekend's match without pivotal midfielder Maximilian Arnold.

German website sportbuzzer.de reports that Wolfsburg midfielder Maximilian Arnold has not participated in team training in two days. Information is limited at this point. The club merely divulges that the 26-year-old has been "feeling unwell".

VfL trainer Oliver Glasner has selected the exact same XI for six consecutive matches and his highly compact and disciplined lineup has achieved seven successive clean sheets on the bounce. The topic of changes is thus highly relevant.

The website reports that central defender Marin Pongracic has been training alongside Maxence Lacroix this week and that Glasner's most likely replacement candidate for central midfield shall be captain Joshua Guilavogui.

Another possibility for Germany's green company team would be to move Yannick Gerhardt back to the six position. Maximilian Philipp or Admir Mehmedi could take over for Gerhardt in the ten slot.

The team also revealed today that winger Josip Brekalo suffered a concussion in training and will not be available for the Hertha fixture.
