Some German Bundesländer (states) allow exceptions for short-term travel involving professional athletes. It has been reported by Britain's "Times" that the Bundesliga's roten Bullen will be granted no such exemption. Hence, UEFA has submitted a request to the club for an alternate plan.
German footballing magazine Kicker contacted officials at RB for comment on Tuesday, but could obtain no concrete confirmation of plans to move the match. The magazine nevertheless disclosed that an announcement concerning a different venue for the match would come on Wednesday.
Even though both legs were played on neutral territory, the second fixture would be considered a home match for Liverpool. Accordingly, the away-goals rule remains in effect. RB must beat the EPL side by a 3-1 scoreline or higher to advance to the quarterfinals.
