Koln entered the match on the back of a winless five match run in the Bundesliga, only to see it extend to six after the 2-2 draw against Dortmund. Fifth placed Borussia Dortmund looked to take another step in bouncing back to winning ways after being ousted in a 4-2 thriller against Bayern München in the beginning of March.

It was Erling Haaland once again who made the difference for Die Schwarzgelben, scoring a brace – including a late equalizer to secure a point.

He opened the scoring after just three minutes. Emre Can’s delicious lobbed ball was neatly received by Haaland, who controlled it with just two touches before going past the last defender and finessing the ball into the back of the net.

Thirty minutes later, England youngster Jude Bellingham forced a VAR check with a touch to his arm and the hosts were awarded a penalty. Striker Ondrej Duda sent Marvin Hitz the wrong way and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.

The 64th minute saw German U-21 winger Ismael Jakobs capitalize on Thomas Meunier’s sloppy first touch, as he struck a thunderous shot with his first touch and sent Koln into the lead for the first time.

Minutes before Haaland scored once again, he headed an effort right into the post – denying himself an equalizer. He made it 2-2 in the final minute of normal time after German U-19 right winger Ansgar Knauff sent in a deft low cross. Haaland was once again in the right place to tap in and salvage a point for the Black & Yellow.

The full time whistle saw him storm off the pitch without a moment to spare, as he threw his match shirt in the hands of Koln defender Jorge Mere and walked away into the tunnel.

The Norwegian has now scored 21 goals in 21 games for Dortmund in the Bundesliga, but was visibly disappointed with Dortmund’s defensive showing.

Köln sit in 14th place, winless in the last seven matches. Dortmund on the other hand, dropped two points and failed to close the gap to Frankfurt, who now sit four points ahead with 47 points in 4th position.
