Peter Bosz sacked as Leverkusen coach

Bayer Leverkusen have sacked Peter Bosz after a poor run of form in 2021.
Peter Bosz has been relieved of his duties as Bayer Leverkusen coach with immediate effect, the Bundesliga side have announced.

Germany U18 coach Hannes Wolf will take charge of the team until the end of the season, with Germany U19 assistant Peter Hermann stepping in as his assistant coach.

"In view of the footballing development in recent weeks, we have come to the conclusion that the separation from Peter Bosz can no longer be avoided," explained sporting managing director Rudi Völler.

"The 0-3 defeat on Sunday at Hertha BSC was unfortunately telling. Our team have lapsed into the same patterns again and again recently. We have not managed to stop the repetitive mistakes and return to the winning track.

"After a factual and very open analysis of the sporting situation, we therefore agreed to take this step despite the continuing high regard for Peter Bosz."

Leverkusen sit sixth in the Bundesliga table.
