FC Köln sporting director Horst Heldt has confirmed that Markus Gisdol will stay on as coach for next week's Bundesliga clash with Mainz despite Saturday's 1-0 loss to Wolfsburg.

"Yes, Markus will be on the bench against Mainz," Heldt told reporters on Sunday.

However, Heldt refused to give any guarantees that Gisdol will remain in charge for the rest of the season.

"We are convinced that it makes sense to think from week to week," Heldt underlined.

Köln sit 16th in the Bundesliga table after taking just two points from their last seven League games.
