Flick has been linked with the Germany job amid reports of strained relations with Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.
And speaking after Bayern's Champions League exit against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, Matthäus said he is in no doubt that the 56-year-old will depart Allianz Arena this summer.
"I'm convinced that Hansi Flick will not still be Bayern coach next season. The DFB wants Hansi Flick as a long-term solution and has made him an offer," said the Sky pundit, who could see RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann come in as Flick's replacement.
"Bayern, on the other hand, have shown interest in Julian Nagelsmann. The [final] Bundesliga game [of the season] against Augsburg will be Flick's last match as Bayern coach."
Flick's contract with Bayern still runs until 2023.
