Three BVB starters miss Tuesday's training

Ahead of this weekend's crucial encounter against RB Leipzig, three Dortmund starters remain absent from the training pitch.

Erling Haaland still hasn't returned to the Borussia Dortmund's training; evidently not deemed fit enough to undertake even light exercises after sustaining a bruise that kept him out of last Saturday's DFB-Pokal fixture.

This was not necessarily a surprise to Bundesliga watchers. Following the weekend's DFB-Pokal rout, trainer Edin Terzic made it clear that the club's plan was to take it slow with the Norwegian phenom. Haaland may yet return on Wednesday.

Less clear were the reasons for two other absences during Tuesday's group training. Neither Giovanni Reyna nor Manuel Akanji were present. While the reasons for their nonattendance could not be ascertained on a day without a presser, it can be tacitly assumed that Terzic merely wished to give both actors a day off for non-injury-related reasons.

The high-pressure race for the top-four resumes along with the Bundesliga this weekend.
