Toe injury ends Leon Bailey's season

Leon Bailey has played his last game of the 2020/21 season.
Bayer Leverkusen will be without Leon Bailey for the rest of the season due to a toe injury, head coach Hannes Wolf confirmed on Friday.

"He will not be able to play again [this season]," Wolf told reporters ahead of Leverkusen's Bundesliga game against Union Berlin on Saturday, according to DPA.

'Die Werkself' will also have to manage without Lars Bender, Lucas Alario, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Daley Sinkgraven, Julian Baumgartlinger, Santiago Arias and Exequiel Palacios.

"The many injuries hurt, but in this Bayer 04 squad there are enough good players to win the home game against Union Berlin," said Wolf.

Nadiem Amiri and Kerem Demirbay, on the other hand, are at Wolf's disposal. The same goes for Paulinho, who has missed the entire season so far with a long-term injury.

"Nadiem Amiri and Kerem Demirbay are available, and Paulinho is definitely in the squad as well. Paulinho has trained with the team long enough now. We still have to decide how many minutes he will get," said Wolf.

After facing Union Berlin, Leverkusen take on Borussia Dortmund next week in their last game of the season.
