AS Monaco striker Kevin Volland and Freiburg left-back Christian Günter were named in Germany's Euro 2020 squad today as coach Joachim Löw made a number of surprise inclusions.

Günter hasn't featured for Germany since his debut in May 2014 while Volland was last called up in November 2016.

Elaborating on his decision to include the duo in his squad, Löw explained:

"Kevin Volland makes an extremely strong impression physically and has performance very well in France. He can help us with his physicality and ability to find the net.

"I think Christian Günter has developed very well, especially in the last two to three years. He has great speed, a lot of dynamism and also a certain goal-scoring ability. He's doing an excellent job at Freiburg, both offensively and defensively."
