A €5 million purchase clause having proved to rich for the blood of Bundesligists Arminia Bielefeld, Japanese international Ritsu Doan was officially returned to parent Erdevisie club PSV Eindhoven days after DSC sporting director Samir Arabi conceded that there was "no chance" the East Westphalians could keep him.

Given the 23-year-old's stated enthusiasm for the Bundesliga, however, a new loan to a different top flight German club cannot be ruled out for the 2021/22 campaign. A local Mainz newspaper reports that the Rheinhessen are interested in bringing the attacker to the Pfalz.

The article notes that Doan's Dutch parent club are eager to loan him out again or possibly sell him. Together with fellow countryman Masaya Okugawa, Doan played a significant role in keeping die Arminnen in Germany's first division with an excellent second half of the season.
