Kicker Report: Mavropanos to remain in Swabia on renewed loan

The long-discussed deal to keep Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos in Baden-Württemberg next season is said to be nearing the finish line.

According to German footballing magazine Kicker, the two clubs have dispensed with the notion of a sale and agreed to another loan deal.
At last check, VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat was said to be in negotiations with his former EPL employer for the outright purchase of Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos. Germany's pre-eminent footballing publication now reports that Mislintat has simply negotiated a renewed loan deal.

Keeping Mavropanos in the Bundesliga had long been a priority of both club and player since the spring. Kicker reports that the discussions are finally in the home stretch and that the new loan arrangement will be announced soon. Mavropanos remains under contract with the Gunners until 2024.
