RB Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch has spoken highly of Mohamed Simakan, describing the young centre-back as a 'fast, very aggressive and very smart' player with a 'really good mentality'.

Simakan has been brought in from Strasbourg to help fill the gaps left by the departures of Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konaté, and Marsch believes the 21-year-old has the potential to follow in their footsteps.

"Honestly, the whole club has a very positive impression of 'Mo' after his first weeks," Marsch said in an interview with Kicker and added:

"I think he's a great guy. He asks the right questions, he always wants to learn on the pitch, he's very hardworking and has a really good mentality.

"He is fast, very aggressive and very smart football-wise. I think with his talent combined with his mentality, he has a lot of potential. He is a super fit for our playing style."
