The hard luck injury to newly signed captain Danny Latza left Schalke 04 scrambling for a midfield replacement. S04 head-coach Dimitrios Grammozis went so far as to explicitly state that he needed another player pronto in order to set his team up. It appears as if sporting director Roven Schröder has obliged this request.

Two reliable German journalists report that Rodrigo Zalazar is headed for his third consecutive loan out. The 21-year-old midfielder of Spanish/Uruguayan roots still hasn't suited up for the SGE yet still joining the club in 2019. He made a strong case for himself last year in the 2. Bundesliga, amassing twelve scorer points with six goals and six assists on loan at FC St. Pauli.

The deal is said to be almost through, with Frankfurt pushing for a compulsory purchase option in the event of promotion. Should the Königsblauen manage to reach Germany's top flight at the end of the season, Zalazar will cost the club approximately €1 million.
