Florian Wirtz is a doubt for Bayer Leverkusen's Bundesliga opener against Union Berlin on Saturday.

Wirtz missed Saturday's 3-0 victory over Lokomotive Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal due to an adductor injury, and Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane isn't sure when the highly-rated 18-year-old will be fully fit again.

"It seems that he can't play a full game at the moment," Seoane told reporters after the game and continued:

"After the final training before the game [on Friday], he felt pain on Saturday and therefore didn't come into play.

"There's certainly hope that he'll be available again soon, but of course it's a sensitive issue because we definitely don't want to risk a long-term absence. It will be necessary to weigh up carefully how we proceed with him."

Wirtz has featured a total of 47 times for Leverkusen, scoring nine goals and making eight assists.
