VfL Wolfsburg have been disqualified from the DFB-Pokal and are therefore out of the tournament.

The Bundesliga team beat Regionalliga side Preußen Münster 3-1 in the first round, but made a costly mistake in extra time that has now led to their exit.

Wolfsburg coach Mark van Bommel made a total of six substitutions during the game despite only being allowed to make five.

As a result of this, Preußen Münster have been declared winners of the game by the German Football Association sports court.

"We are disappointed and would have liked a different outcome of the trial. We do not agree with the result and will now look into legal remedies," said Wolfsburg managing director Dr. Tim Schumacher.
