Sky Report: Schalke set to snag Man City's prospect Ko Itakura on loan

Sky Germany reports that Japanese defender Ko Itakura is due in Gelsenkirchen on Wednesday for a medical.

Schalke looks to be the next loan destination for the 24-year-old Man City prospect.
Japan U23 veteran and recent Olympic participant Ko Itakura still has not played for EPL giants Manchester City since signing with the reigning English champions in 2019. The center halve was twice loaned out to Dutch side FC Groningen.

Over the course of two-and-half seasons in the Dutch Erdevisie, Itakura made 59 appearances across all competitions. He tallied once and saw his market value increase from an estimated €500,000 to €3.5 million.

Sky Germany reports that the central defender is set to join Germany's Königsblauen on a season-long loan. A purchase clause of some €4 million is also reported, though it not known if it might be automatically triggered based on appearances or in the event of promotion.
