VfB Stuttgart have announced that Sasa Kalajdzic is expected to be out for the rest of 2021.

The tall forward needs surgery after suffering a shoulder dislocation in Friday's 4-0 defeat against RB Leipzig.

"Sasa's injury hits us hard because he plays a central role in our game. At the same time, he is an important factor for our team because of his positive nature," said Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat.

"Unfortunately, the surgery and the associated long downtime are unavoidable, so we now have to do without Sasa for a long time."

Kalajdzic scored 17 goals in 36 games for Stuttgart last season.
