Jordan Beyer's proposed loan switch from Gladbach to Werder Bremen has broken down.

Until the past weekend, Jordan Beyer looked set to join Werder Bremen on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

However, after Stefan Lainer sustained a long-term injury in Gladbach's 4-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, Beyer will not be allowed to leave after all.

"It's true that Werder wanted to take Jordan Beyer on loan, and we would have let him move to find more playing time," Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl told Bild.

"But after Stefan Lainer's injury, Jordan is too important for us, and the loan deal is no longer an issue. We have already told Bremen and Jordan that."

The versatile defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Hamburger SV. He is yet to make an appearance for Gladbach this season.
