Bayern München have confirmed the signing of Marcel Sabitzer from Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig.

The 27-year-old Austrian international has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Bavarians.

Bayern have paid a reported €15 million to sign the midfielder, who had one year left on his contract with 'Die Roten Bullen'.

"Marcel Sabitzer brings everything a player needs for FC Bayern. He will also not need a long acclimatization period because he is already very familiar with the philosophy of our coach Julian Nagelsmann," said FC Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn, referring to the fact that Sabitzer used to play under Nagelsmann at Leipzig.

Board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic added:

"We are very happy that we were able to win Marcel Sabitzer for FC Bayern. Marcel is a very good footballer, he has a great mentality, is very ambitious and, as captain of RB, has carried responsibility on and off the pitch. After all, our coach knows him very well, also as a leading player. We are looking forward to having him."

Sabitzer commented:

"I am very happy to be able to play for FC Bayern. Even as a child, my Bayern jersey was my great pride, every year at Christmas I got a new one. I will give everything for this club, want to win as many games as possible and of course win many titles."

Sabitzer made a total of 229 appearances for RB Leipzig with 52 goals and 42 assists to his name. He spent his last year at Red Bull Arena as the club's captain.
