Germany won their first game under new coach Hansi Flick without impressing as they best Liechtenstein 2-0 at Kybunpark in a World Cup qualifier tonight.

In a very one-sided affair with few clear-cut chances, Flick's troops were forced to wait until just before the break before Timo Werner finally broke the deadlock after he was set up by Jamal Musiala.

With 77 minutes played, Leroy Sané doubled the lead as he beat his man and smashed the ball into the net.

The win means Germany sit second in Group J ahead of their upcoming games against Armenia and Iceland.
