Sardar Azmoun explains failed Leverkusen move

Sardar Azmoun has confirmed he attracted interest from a number of clubs, including Bayer Leverkusen, before the summer transfer window closed.
Zenit St. Petersburg forward Sardar Azmoun has confirmed that Bayer Leverkusen among others made an offer to sign him during the summer transfer window.

But, according to the striker, his Russian club didn't entertain any offers for him.

"I have a contract. Even if I wanted to leave, Zenit can prevent me, and there is nothing I can do," said the Iranian striker, according to Persian Soccer.

"I had offers from Tottenham, Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen and Roma but they rejected them. If I leave, it will be this summer as a free agent."

Azmoun's contract with Zenit expires in 2022.
