FC Schalke 04 could face a difficult task in their bid to keep a hold of Vitalie Becker, based on the latest transfer rumours.

The 20-year-old – who made his debut for the Royal Blues in August – is the focus of attention from 1.FC Köln.

However, Köln now faces competition in the race to sign the German-Russian player according to Becker's agent.

“Yes, that's correct. He speaks Russian, and thanks to his background, a move to the Russian Premier League is possible.

“Many agents from Russia called and said there was great interest in Vitalie from the RPL,” PN Sports Consulting told football24.ru.

In Russia, Spartak Moscow, Zenit St.Petersburg, FC Krasnodar and CSKA Moscow are all interested in the German U20 international.

In any case, Schalke want to extend Becker's contract first – also to increase any potential transfer fee for the future.

Becker is under contract in Gelsenkirchen until 2027 and, with a salary of €250,000 per year, is among the lowest earners.
