Bayern Munich secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Atletico Madrid away from home in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Dayot Upamecano was one of Bayern's standout performers, helping keep Atletico's attacking threat to a minimum while confidently carrying the ball forward and posing a threat in the opposition box.

Speaking to reporters after the game (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl heaped praise on the centre-back, expressing his delight at the club's decision to extend the Frenchman's contract until 2030 earlier this year.

“Thank God we extended his contract. Thank God he’s at our club,” Eberl said.

"He’s been performing at a world-class level for weeks now. He already did so last season and at the World Cup, and now he’s doing it again. Absolutely unbelievable.

"He scores goals, and he’s scored goals in the past as well. There’s nothing more to say other than that he’s world-class."
