Bayern‘s quest for a new coach continues! Contrary to many reports which let to believe Bayern and their current coach would come to an agreement on a new contract, Thomas Tuchel has just now confirmed he will leave Bayern after the last Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim.
“This is my last press conference as FC Bayern coach. There were talks, but we didn‘t reach an agreement - so the decision of February still stands“, said Tuchel at the press conference.
The Bayern bosses decided in February to release Tuchel from his contract at the end of the 2023/24 season. After several failed attempts to find a fitting replacement (and several cancellations from other coaches, such as Xabi Alonso and Ralf Rangnick), Bayern wanted to continue working with Thomas Tuchel.
As per Sky Germany, Bayern wasn‘t willing to give Tuchel a contract extension until 2026 - a crucial condition for Tuchel to continue his work in Munich, since he didn’t want to feel like an interim coach.
While Tuchel is openly looking for a move back to the Premier League, Bayern have their sights set on three options currently: Brighton‘s Roberto de Zerbi, Manchester United‘s Erik ten Hag and former Bayern and Germany coach Hansi Flick.
