It remains doubtful whether Vincent Kompany will be able to lead his Bayern Munich team in Wednesday night's Champions League clash with Arsenal.

As the German champions announced on Tuesday, the Belgian coach will miss the final training session ahead of the game due to a viral infection.

He will also miss the press conference ahead of Wednesday's blockbuster clash, with assistant coach Aaron Danks stepping in for him.

“Vincent Kompany is taking it easy due to a viral infection and will therefore miss today’s training session and press conference,” FC Bayern stated.

Kompany already had problems at the weekend, when he was forced to remain on the bench during his side's 6-1 thrashing of RB Leipzig, while Danks issued instructions from the touchline.

The press conference with Danks, scheduled for 16:00 CEST, could provide further clarity on whether Kompany will be ready for Wednesday's game.
