Bayern Munich's 2-1 victory over Mainz 05 came at a potential cost, with Manuel Neuer forced off before half-time after appearing to sustain an injury during a set-piece situation.
Speaking after the match, Joshua Kimmich expressed concern about his captain's condition and admitted that Bayern could be without the experienced goalkeeper for longer than initially hoped.
"It would be extremely bitter for us if he were to be out. It didn't look like he would be able to train again after just a week," Kimmich told "Kicker".
The midfielder also highlighted Neuer's exceptional pain tolerance, suggesting that the goalkeeper's decision to leave the pitch could indicate a serious issue.
"Manu never admits to being in pain – so when he does come off, unfortunately it's probably something serious."
Neuer was replaced by Jonas Urbig before half-time, with Bayern yet to establish the full extent of the injury. Further medical examinations will determine how long the 40-year-old could be sidelined.
