Bayern Munich’s 3-1 Telekom Cup victory over RB Leipzig was marred by a worrying incident in the 83rd minute, when Jamal Musiala suddenly collapsed on the pitch.
The players immediately called for help, with an emergency doctor rushing onto the field as the stadium fell silent while Musiala received treatment.
After a short while, the doctor gave the thumbs-up, with the attacking midfielder subsequently leaving the pitch looking dazed and dizzy.
Speaking after the game, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl played down concerns about Musiala, who appeared to have been affected by the sweltering 33-degree heat in Munich.
“He’s doing well, that’s the most important thing,” Eberl told Bild, providing a brief update.
According to Sport1, Musiala complained of dizziness and circulatory problems due to the heat, while initial examinations by Bayern’s doctors revealed nothing concerning.
The 23-year-old is now expected to rest and recover over the next couple of days.
