SV Elversberg, the newly promoted Bundesliga side from Saarland, is making it clear from the start that they are actively fighting for survival in the top flight rather than waiting for luck.

The sporting success is no coincidence. SVE has climbed four leagues in four years since 2022: Regionalliga, 3. Liga, 2. Bundesliga, and now the Bundesliga. The club is thus the 59th team in Bundesliga history and the fourth representative from Saarland, following 1. FC Saarbrücken, Borussia Neunkirchen, and FC Homburg. The stadium at the Kaiserlinde in Spiesen-Elversberg currently holds 10,000 spectators.

Head coach Vincent Wagner represents an analytical, structured approach to work. The trained high school history and sports teacher described the promotion in a language that reveals his ambition. He called the Bundesliga promotion a “moon landing”; securing safety from relegation, he termed “like a journey to Mars.”

Behind Wagner is a club structure with short decision-making paths. The main sponsor is the Saarland pharmaceutical company Ursapharm. Co-founder Frank Holzer, who himself played in the Bundesliga for Eintracht Braunschweig between 1976 and 1980, heads the supervisory board. His son Dominik is the club president.
