Elversberg
Elversberg flew out of the blocks at the start of their maiden Bundesliga campaign, recording 3-2 and 4-3 victories over Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach respectively. However, their momentum has slowed with a return of just one point from their last three Bundesliga outings.
After putting in a valiant effort in a 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich, Elversberg played out a goalless draw against fellow newly-promoted side Schalke 04, before they fell to a narrow defeat against Union Berlin on their return from the international break. The contest at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei appeared to be heading towards a goalless draw until Livan Burcu netted an 81st-minute winner to leave Elversberg with nothing to show for their efforts.
Having failed to find the net in their last two outings, the ninth-placed side will be desperate to rediscover their goalscoring touch in their first meeting with Augsburg since losing 3-1 in the DFB-Pokal in August 2015. Their only head-to-head victory took place in a third-tier fixture in August 2003.
Team News
The hosts are expected to be without Francis Onyeka, Cole Campbell and Luis Seifert. Elversberg boss Vincent Wagner has also revealed that Jan Gyamerah is a doubt for Saturday’s home clash.

Elversberg
Like Elversberg, Augsburg started the 2026/27 Bundesliga season with back-to-back victories, running out 3-0 winners against Schalke 04 before recording a 4-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. The Fuggerstädter have since gone on to take two points from their next three games, including a hard-fought draw in last weekend’s home clash with Bayern.
Robin Fellhauer opened the scoring inside eight seconds, making it the fastest goal in Bundesliga history. The early effort gave Augsburg a narrow half-time lead, but Bayern hit back through Ismael Sabiri inside the opening 10 minutes of the second period. Rodrigo Ribeiro quickly restored the slender advantage, only for Nathaniel Brown to deny Augsburg a second straight victory over Bayern.
Manuel Baum’s side head into the weekend in sixth position and two points adrift of the top four at this early stage of the season. The Augsburg boss will be looking for a defensive improvement from his side on Saturday, having seen them concede seven goals across the last three games.
That said, he will not want defensive resilience to come at the cost of attacking intent, especially as his team have impressed with a minimum of two goals scored in all five Bundesliga games this season. They have made a particular habit of netting after the break, having recorded 10 of their 13 goals in the second period, including five of their six efforts on the road.
Team News
Augsburg will have to make do without the services of Noahkai Banks, Alexis Claude-Maurice, Tim Breithaupt, Suso and Steve Mounié.
